Editorial Policy & Recipe Testing Standards

Last updated: June 12, 2026 · Reviewed by Emily Dawson, Recipe Developer & British Food Writer

British Kitchen Hub publishes original recipes and food articles intended for home cooks. Every piece of content on this site follows the standards below so you know how recipes are created, tested, and reviewed before publication.

How we develop recipes

  • Recipes are developed in a home kitchen by Emily Dawson — not generated from untested AI output alone.
  • Ingredients are measured by weight where precision matters, with volume notes for everyday baking.
  • Each recipe is cooked at least twice before publishing, with adjustments to timing, seasoning, and method notes.
  • Photographs show the finished dish Emily prepared from the published recipe.
  • Make-ahead, storage, and substitution guidance is included only when Emily has tested it herself.

How we test articles & listicles

Round-up articles (such as overnight oats or sheet-pan dinner collections) are researched from trusted external sources and cross-checked for accuracy, nutrition claims, and relevance. We link to the original recipe creator and do not copy full recipes without permission.

  • Headlines reflect the actual content — we do not use misleading clickbait.
  • Nutrition and weight-loss claims are supported by ingredient choices (protein, fibre, portion size).
  • Articles are reviewed and updated when methods, ingredients, or guidance change.
  • Published and modified dates on each article reflect when content was first published or last substantively reviewed.

Nutrition & health information

British Kitchen Hub provides general cooking and wellness information, not personalised medical advice. Calorie counts and nutrition figures, when shown, are estimates based on standard ingredients and typical portion sizes. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before making significant dietary changes.
